Jackie Black is the visionary co-owner of Island Tingz, established in December 2020 alongside her partner. What began during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic inside a small neighborhood gas station quickly outgrew its space. Driven by overwhelming community support, Island Tingz transitioned to its own dedicated storefront just five months later.

Drawing on a lifelong, deep-rooted connection to Jamaican heritage, Jackie identifies as Jamerican, ensuring authenticity is at the core of the restaurant’s offerings. This commitment is evident in their methods: Island Tingz utilizes only the freshest ingredients, and all signature seasonings and famous jerk sauce are expertly crafted in-house.

Their dedication to authentic flavor has resonated deeply within the community, which has honored them with the Neighborhood App Favorite Restaurant award for the years 2021, 2022, and 2025. Guests rave about the widely recognized best-in-the-city Rum Punch, alongside their award-winning, mouth-watering Oxtails and signature Jerk entrees.
